Assessment & Planning
We evaluate how much of the deck can be salvaged and what needs new boards. The goal is a structurally sound, visually cohesive surface.
We identify every board that has rot, deep splinters, or irreparable damage. We mark boards that can be kept and those that must go.
We choose replacement boards that match existing species, grade, and dimension. For composite-topped decks, we source matching materials.
Board Removal & Installation
Old planks come up carefully. New boards go down with proper fastening, spacing, and alignment so the deck is level and safe.
We remove fasteners and damaged boards without disturbing sound joists and substructure. Debris is disposed of properly.
New planks are laid with the correct run, spacing (typically 1/8" gap for expansion), and fastener pattern. We use stainless-steel fasteners to prevent corrosion and staining.
Integrated Repairs
While the deck is open, we address structural issues: loose joists, rotted ledger trim, corroded flashing.
We inspect and tighten joist connections, ledger bolts, and beam supports. Any structural weakness is addressed before the deck is closed back up.
We check and replace flashing at the ledger and under the rim board. Proper water shedding prevents rot from returning.
Full Finishing
New and old boards get the same treatment: cleaning, stripping (if needed), sanding, and staining. Everything finishes as one surface.
