SURFACE PREPARATION

Deck Paint & Stain Stripping in Niagara

Painting over a failing finish never works. We strip old paint and stain down to bare wood so the new product has a clean surface to bond to and lasts.

HOW WE DO IT

The process, step by step.

01

Finish Identification

We identify the existing product (penetrating stain, film-forming stain, paint, or solid colour) before choosing a removal method. Wrong product choice means wrong result.

No Guesswork
02

Chemical Stripping

Eco-friendly strippers are applied and allowed to dwell, breaking the bond between the old finish and the wood without raising grain or scorching.

03

Mechanical Removal

Scrapers, brushes, and low-pressure washing remove the loosened finish. Tight spots and recesses are worked by hand for complete removal.

FEATURED PROJECT

Paint Stripping & Oil Restoration

St. Catharines·Benjamin Moore Woodluxe — Teak (Oil-Based, Translucent)

The previous contractor had applied a solid stain, exactly the wrong product for a horizontal deck. Solid stain sits on the wood surface instead of penetrating it. Once water works underneath, it peels and traps moisture, accelerating rot from below. We power washed first, applied a chemical stripper, then used drum sanders, hand sanders, and grinders to remove every trace of the old paint. The result is a clean, open-grain surface ready to absorb a real finish. We applied Benjamin Moore Woodluxe in Teak, oil-based and translucent, which soaks into the wood rather than sitting on top. It will never peel or flake.
