Wood Cleaning
Proper cleaning is the foundation everything else depends on. Skip it or rush it, and no stain, no matter how expensive, will hold.
Specialized solutions penetrate wood fibres and break down mold, algae, and moss at a molecular level, not a surface rinse. Safe for your plants, pets, and family.
Commercial-grade equipment calibrated to your wood species and existing finish. Enough pressure to flush out contaminants; not enough to raise the grain or gouge soft fibres.
Stain Stripping
Old product sitting on top of wood is a barrier, not a base. Before any new stain goes down, the old one has to come off cleanly.
We use chemical strippers that are safe for pets, plants, and people. No harsh solvents, no scorching. Applied with dwell time to break the bond between finish and wood.
We identify whether your existing finish is penetrating or film-forming before choosing the removal method. The right stripper for the right product, every time.
Sanding
Sanding opens the wood grain so stain absorbs deep and locks in. The result is a smooth, splinter-free surface your family uses barefoot.
Orbital and belt sanders for the field. An even scratch pattern from board to board means an even finish. No blotchy absorption, no lap marks.
Railings, balusters, stair stringers, and post faces are sanded by hand. Every surface you see and touch gets the same attention as the deck field.
Staining & Sealing
The finish you choose determines how your wood looks and how long it holds up. We help you pick the right product and apply it right.
Our primary recommendation: oil-based stains soak into the wood fibre rather than sitting on top. Better moisture resistance, no peeling, more natural look. We primarily use Benjamin Moore Woodluxe.
For heavily weathered wood needing full coverage, we use solid-colour stains. For natural-wood lovers who want protection without colour change, clear penetrating sealers are available.
Plus two more when the job calls for it.
